We believe in
independent schools.

Our family has been educated and worked in independent schools for more than 50 years, and we believe in the lifelong education provided by these remarkable institutions. Regardless of the size, age, or location, each NAIS secondary school plays a prominent role in its community; consistently sends campus leaders to colleges and universities; and boasts a highly-accomplished alumni base. We strongly support these schools and their missions.

Our Mission

The Benedict Foundation for Independent Schools is organized to exclusively benefit independent secondary schools in the United States. Emphasis is placed on well-established schools with steady or growing enrollment which lack substantial financial resources of their own. Challenge grants are preferred for purposes of improving academic programs, scholarship aid, building programs, faculty salaries, faculty enrichment, or other programs to improve the quality of the school’s educational activities.

Applications are accepted from January 1 through March 31.
All materials are reviewed in June and notifications are sent in July.
